Golfing a Spectacular 12 Holes at Brautarholt, Iceland
Both Cam and I are still newbies when it comes to the game of golf but that didn’t stop us from making a little detour on our campervan trip to check out one of the world’s top golf courses in Iceland - Brautarholt Golf Club.
Brautarholt Golf Club is a picturesque 12-hole golf course located in the town of Hafnarfjörður, just a 15-minute drive from Reykjavik. The course is situated in an incredibly scenic location, surrounded by the stunning and dramatic Icelandic seaside and mountains. We just couldn’t stop interrupting our game with pauses to take in the view and snap some photos.
If you come here during the months of June or July, when there is close to 24 hours of sunlight, you can enjoy midnight golf in Iceland. Sadly, we were there in September (but still a bright and beautiful sunny day) so couldn’t experience playing golf in the middle of the night! Regardless, this was one of the most, if not THE most stunning golf course we’ve played in our lives. It was easy to book a tee time through their website. We booked the day-of, which was pretty last minute, and they still found us a time slot. Arriving there, we easily rented a set of clubs and bought as many balls as we could (take more than you think you’ll need…we ended up losing many!).
The course was not the easiest and we spent a lot of time in the rough and/or ball-hunting. However, whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner, playing golf at Brautarholt is truly an unforgettable experience that combines the beauty of Iceland's natural landscapes with the timeless sport of golf.
